Message Follicles? Ovulation? Indigestion?
Hey everyone,
I have posted pics of my GTP pair - Sorong type female and Biak type male. I put them together after about 3 weeks of night time cooling. My female today was perched like this on the branches which is really not normal and the swell in her body was right under the basking spot.

Does anyone have any suggestions? After I saw this I put the male and female together - before that they were simply cooling. If the female is really producing follicles then I want the male to be there. He is a little small/young but hopefully he is mature beyond his years.

Thanks,
Brandon

Dam, I wish it's noting bad for her and I hope it's ovulation or follicule! If you are able to breed them, give me a word (or to mario), I would be really interest by a cb gtp!

Brandon,

That is either her pre-ovulation swell or the actual ovulation. If this was her ovulation, lets hope the male did copulate with her prior to ovulating.

Either way, keep introducing the male to her and hope for the best

Have you witnessed any copulation?

Marc

The male was with her for about 4 days about 2 weeks ago. I did not witness any copulations. I removed the male to cool them a little more and was planning on putting them together soon. After seeing that though I put them together again. I have not witnessed any copulations. I think the male is too small though. He is just over 15 months old I would estimate. I wasn't able to find anything bigger for this season.
Thanks,
Brandon

Hi Brandon ;)

It looks like a pre-ovulation swell ( in process of maturing follicules ) . You should see the bump spread further in the snake when you see it , its ovulation. For your male , make sure its a male and try it again because it is prime time to put them together as the follicules will get all "fresh" sperm they can as ovulation occurs.

As for ...

Being under the basking spot is 100% directly related with her growing follicules. This means that the rest of the container isint hot enough .If you didint had a warm place , its unlikely that she would pre-ovulate and ovulate , if she still would do it , the chances of getting good eggs are thinner. It is normal for her as she seeks warm temperatures during this process and after. You have to regulate the terrarium so that the cooler isint too cool .

Good luck with it and keep us posted. ;)
